Has anyone else noticed a red flicker in the flashing green LED?
I notice it when looking at the phone from an angle, or while moving my head.
I can be sitting at my desk and think my phone is flashing an alert signal, but when I turn to look, it's flashing green.
Green is a primary LED color, so it should never require red to be flashed.
I don't think it's simply an optical illusion, because I never noticed it on my Blue Angel's green LED.
It could be that the LED software puts it in a momentary red or yellow state before settling on green, which is visible if caught at just the right moment, but which is harder to see if you're staring at the LED, because then the green quickly overtakes it.
Non-atomic LED updates?

Permanent RED/ORANGE will come on if you have an unread message or power is low or when charging.
I stare very hard at the LED for many many seconds not blinking my eyes, I do not see it when it is non of the above situations.
How long I need to look hard at the LED?
Offline
Rather the opposite -- I see it when NOT staring at the LED. Let it blink green for a normal GSM connection and look at it from the corner of your eye (such as sitting on a desk away from your computer monitor), or while your head is turning. It looks red sometimes, even though it is really blinking green.

What I mean is:
Place your Flame to the left or right of your desk monitor, such that the green LED is visibly blinking.
Then focus on your desk monitor like you're using it normally.
See red flashes in the periphery?
Offline
yep - I noticed it a few times - its flashes when looking at an angle

after staring at it for 15 minutes and feeling pretty dumb, I can say that my Flame does not flash...
Nevermind, scrap that, while typing this, I saw the red LED light up briefly.

Subliminal, isn't she? ![]()

still as beautiful as they come ;-)

I've never seen RED led... ![]()

I have noticed orange color of blinking LED several times - just to find out that there were no alarms and no orange color anymore.
It makes you a little nervous as you suspect something is wrong with your head (which just as well is possible).

I never have a Green Light only a constantly blinking Orange Light. What gives.
Also, should there be a Blue light if Bluetooth is on.
Offline
Yes, there should be ![]()
RTFM!
LEDs are described in the beginning of the manual.
You probably have active notifications (such as unread SMSs, etc)
Or some programs (such as Anastasia ICQ client) may blink orange LED if there are unread ICQ messages.

Totally agree with you, man. I have noticed this since day one.
must be optical illusion lah! haha ![]()
BTW, the default green LED is flashing damn bright, man!
Is the green LED eating up a lot of battery? Any way to test this?

Does anyone have an idea how to turn LEDs off?
Say, I don't need this flashing at all when I am holding device in my hands and it just distracts attention, especially when blinking RED or ORANGE when in fact GREEN... ![]()
When I need flashing LEDs, I would turn it on.
Could someone write such a utility?
BTW, when I had iPAQ 4700, I had utilities to turn off Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Power LEDs. After all, it would save power, which is so necessary.

It seems I managed to KILL ALL LEDs!!!
Setting these keys
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\NLed\PCA9633\Led00\LedWeight
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\NLed\PCA9633\Led01\LedWeight
..
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\NLed\PCA9633\Led06\LedWeight
to zero did the trick!
If you are going to try this, do not forget to export registry branch prior to any changes.
And you need to soft reset to enable new values.
I am so so happy...
Just one sleepless night, and here it is! ![]()

It would be interesting to experiment which is which, to leave enabled BLUE LED, for example.
If someone finds out, please share any info

nice work tired_bear, I'm gonna apply the settings !

Not sure that will have an impact on power consumption, but could be useful in other situation. Thanks.

About power saving - we will see..
It's gonna save some nerves for sure ![]()
It would be ideal to have a simpler way to switch them on again, maybe somebody could write such a utility?

What you can do if you have some thing that is able upload reg file, is to create a reg file and launch it.
I think that sktools, resco explorer are able to do it.

Further investigation
revealed that changing
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\NLed\PCA9633\Led01\LedWeight
from FF00 to 0 disables GREEN LED, which is well enough.
It makes sense to leave all other LEDs enabled.
No flickering anymore!!

good work! Definitively saves MY nervs at sleeping time.
and.... plz verify this. After disabling green flashlight, the battery consumption drops

Led06 set to 0 to disable orange flashing.
This is useful when scheduling flight mode at mid-night 02 menu bubble pops up with orange light flashing. Turning off the orange flashing then the scheduled flight mode can be enable / disable quietly during the night time.
This may also help saving power for wireless lan network connecting.

I have double checked
Led06 set to 0 is to disable orange flashing - the wireless lan connected indicator
Led00 set to 0 is to disable red (deep orange) flashing - the o2 menu bubble pops up

i think that LEDs will not use much power ![]()
