Re: Manila2D VGA CAB working on Flame

Have you included Player and HTC Album VGA skins found there?
So, all fixes players and HTC should be installed separate from this cab or (is patched for non HTC devices HTChome.dll included, YouTube app is not included as I can see from this cab and I doubt it will work on any of the avaliable WM 6.1 ROMs)?
Also there is a good icon pack for replacing the original taskbar icons with some Manila esque ones here:

You may have to go through the original topic on xda-developers as these seem to be common problems (look at post #2 in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398173 for a quick list - the topic is massive so if the fixes are not here good luck sorting through all the posts :-( ).

Last time I looked I did notice that the VGA files that were provided were still missing appropriate versions for Audio Manager even though someone in the post that Vlad mentioned actually posted some ones for the Opal.  These are the ones I have and they mostly work fine.  If this is still an issue I will dig up the post (or just post the files here if there is interest).

I have been using Manilla (VGA mode) for about 6 weeks.  I do not seem to have the weather or contact problems that many seem to complain about - my only (minor) gripes are:

* the Settings tab (you normally have to hit things twice to bring them up)
* the Communications button in Settings does not bring up the Communication Manager (which is so minor I have not even bothered to investigate)
* Audio Manager will not play in "unattended mode" properly (you need to add a registry setting to allow you to allow you to turn off the Flame but still let it play - this works fine however it will not go to the next song)

Note that I did actually have the last one working at one stage with V17 of Manilla 2D but I have not been able to fix it on V19 (which is what I am using) nor have I been able to make it work when I moved back to V17 (even after reloading onto a clean version of Cotulla's ROM ...).  Maybe I will have another go when V21 comes out soon ...

Manilla is a fantastic addition to the Flame - I highly recommend it.

Re: Manila2D VGA CAB working on Flame

Is it removable? Or is the only way back to pre-installation a hard reset?

TIA

Wow, its 317 files of almost 18MB in \windows\ directory, will it slow down the windows directory?

Not sure what you mean by "not fully functional" - I have been happily using virtually all the functions over the past 6 weeks (virtually as soon as the initial "non-HTC device" build was provided).  Seems to be pretty much all there to me.

I am not sure if you mean that it does not have the TF3D features - if so it will never have them as it was deliberately cut down due to people initially not being able to get TF3D running on non-TF3D devices.  If you are after the full TF3D experience xsoulreaver has reported that he can get it working but the hardware opengl drivers are crashing making it useless (frame rates on the software opengl implementations are too slow).  A bit of a pity really ...

If you have problems it may be because of the ROM you are on - I noticed that a couple of small things "broke" when I upgraded to EFNs latest ROM yesterday (e.g. the Settings screen no longer works at all for some reason after the upgrade).  I have not used things enough on the new ROM to see what else is not working.  I was previously using Cotulla's ROM ...

Re: Manila2D VGA CAB working on Flame

I'm glad to know that this application can work better.
I use it under the MK3 ultimate version (not X) : it si not the latest version available.
The issues I meet are :
- On contact Page, I can't add any contact : I can select a contact but nothing happens.
- Same issue on the program page. My program page is still empty.
- weather page : I have to add my location, but when I select "menu" > "add location" : nothing happens (I'm connected to the internet)
- Music : WMP automaticly opens but an error message is displayed : "Cannot play the file. The file is either corrupted or Player does not support the format you are trying to play". I click on "OK" and I can normaly use WMP. I believe this issue is known. Not so big deal.
- settings page : Sounds, wallpaper, communication : nothing happens when I select each one, but the softkey "all settings" is ok

I'm going to test the Manila2D VGA application on the newer EFN's ROM versions and i will report here.

I use a Htc Diamond too and the big screen of our Flame make the differents using a finger interface. I hope we will able to use it right soon !

There is an other hope for a finger interface OS available on VGA device : it si Pointui. I am waiting for there final realease.

Don't bother - it won't work wink This cab can't install properly fully functional Manilla2d on any ROM build. If you really want to use M2D on your FLAME please follow the instructions posted here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=429224

If you can not handle it please let me know I'll make all in one archive for all needed files and step by step install.

Re: Manila2D VGA CAB working on Flame

@vlad48 :Thank you for the information !
The latest version for the manila 2D application is v20 : it is for HTC devices only (not for us).
I don't want to waste my time with the v19 version (latest version for all devices) : it needs to install several fixes.
The author says that he will release the v21 soon. I will wait for this realese ant test the manila 2D application from your link. I will report here.

I am on V19 with no fixes - it works ok as mentioned above (in fact I just upgraded my rom to EFNs x version and my settings page come back).  In my experience the non-HTC version release normally takes a few days to come after the HTC release has been done.  As well, the V21 release has been "real close now" for a week ...

To install I normally, flash back to a clean ROM, install the 9 cabs that comes with V19 and then copy the V0.13 VGA icons directly into the Windows directory from my PC to my Flame (over USB when connected via ActiveSync).  There is a post in the thread that Vlad mentions where a guy has the VGA icons from the HTC Opal for Audio Manager which I also copy over.  This is all I do to get it working - the upgrade last night was done in around 30 minutes including upgrading the ROM!

Re: Manila2D VGA CAB working on Flame

FreckledAvenger , that guy in this thread is me.  Here is the latest fix regarding the HTC Album VGA skin and M2D Photos And Videos tab preview just unpack the archive to your \Windows\ folder after disabling the TF2D in your Settings-->Personal-->Today settings.

The result:

Try this post on www.xda-developers.com -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpos … ount=3885.  Make sure you use the V19 package for all (inclunding non-HTC) devices.  Other packages are for HTC devices only.

I could not get Manilla installed on EFN 6.1 MK4 ROMs however it does install on MK3 and below (not sure if anyone has experienced different here).  I am on Cotulla's 3rd ROM at the moment and I have had a few little stability problems so far (only just started using it in the last 24 hours).

Soft reset - TouchFLO should automatically start from then on.  TouchFlo appears as an option on the Settings -> Personal -> Today -> Items screen.  All other items on the today screen should be disabled except for TouchFLO.  You can turn TouchFLO on and off by ticking/unticking it here ...

Sorry - I do not use SPB so I can not comment.  Not sure what ROM you are using either as this can make a difference (as I have already indicated).  I believe Manilla will not work on very early ROMs of the WM6 series and probably will not work at all on WM5.

Is TouchFLO listed in the Today control panel (Items tab) after you installed it?  If it is not there it did not install properly.

Re: Manila2D VGA CAB working on Flame

OK F.A. , now TouchFlo does launch (after 4 or 5 attempts), but it take only 1/4 of the screen! and i do not have same screen as in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=429224 (post one)
What i've tried is your first link, so I installed "update_19balldevices.zip" from one to 9, then I installed the 6 other files.
I'm searching the settings to get it 640/480, but don't find it....
Keep lookin

Re: Manila2D VGA CAB working on Flame

Hey F.A.  It seems you are wrong with this zip file.
On XDAdev, some one told me it is NOT for VGA!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr … ost2995115
OK, got it working.
I've added the 3° zip to get it VGA, but many pages are still to small, like picture gallery. Weather cannot work too (mean it does not swap the icon, and i cannot change the day)
About the program page, i cant find how to add icons programs or a new page of icons, 'caus only 9 or 12 programs is to short according to me.
Any way, it's cool.
