MicroSD Cards

Added by Thierryb:
- Do not buy 2gb from Sandisk, 50% Of us have had problems.
- SDHC is not yet supported on the Flame but an upgrade has been found. Unfortunately this upgrade do not let you use wifi. You have to choose SDHC or Wifi.

MicroSD Cards
Other members on Forum XDA Developers stated that the Kingston 2 GB Micro SD
works OK. I have just installed one & after several soft resets & transfers to the disc
I can report it is working just fine.

Re: MicroSD Cards

Patriot 2 GB MicroSD works fine for me. No problems ever.

Kingston is a brand I'd recommend (it's my first choice among brands), but I have no idea as to its MicroSD compatibility with the Flame.

O2's "official line" is that only 1 GB MicroSD cards are supported.

Re: MicroSD Cards

I'm using 2GB Transcend. From time to time, my Flame cannot recognize my card.  It will create subdirectory "Storage Card" for my Inbox' attachment then rename my microSD with "Storage Card2" after recognizing it.

Re: MicroSD Cards

2gb cards are officially supported by o2 (it's on the faq of the Flame in the o2 site), even if o2 support have told me the contrary. I have asked them a list, but they have not.

At present we have problem with Transcend and Sandisk, but not for all of us.

I have already tested a 4gb sdhc from sandisk, but even after reinserted more than once, it was not recognized. O2 support told me that sdhc is not supported, but I do not trust them anymore!

Re: MicroSD Cards

Isn't there any possibility in the future to make it possible to read sdhc-cards ?
I think I read something about HTC roms that have been modified to make the sdhc working.
What do you think ?

Re: MicroSD Cards

I think we do not know enough about the components of the flame. But if the sd hardware is sdhc compatible we will be able to activate it like the xda devs have done it for the htcs.

Re: MicroSD Cards

4GB HC microSD will not work if Flame still does not support HC type of microSD.

Not sure if microSD has normal 4GB. If it exists, maybe will work.

When I was using Uni Cooked Rom AKu3.5 by Helmi, I bought 2 normal (non HC) 4GB SD and works. It also does not support HC type of SD although the \Windows\ directory has a HCSD.DLL. Guess it maybe hardware.

Re: MicroSD Cards

Very sad that there is no normal 4GB microSD.

My 2GB is almost filled. Have yet to moved them to the Main Memory.

Normal SD has 4GB.

Normal SD has 4GB.

Me also, my 2GB is already full because creating backups of our 2GB ROM require more memory. I hope there is a way of supporting 4GB microSDs.

We have all the same problem with sandisk, except perhaps one or two of us.

Anyone else tried Patriot? I'd be interested in other successes or perhaps failures.

I only keep the latest backup in the 2GB MicroSD.

The older backups are somewhere else.

Re: MicroSD Cards

Just installed. No impact on standard microsd. The 2 gb sandisk bug is always here. I will try an sdhc card as soon as possible.

2 files are installed:
\Windows\sdbus.dll 48632 bytes (old 45820)
\Windows\sdmemory.dll 15664 bytes (old 11636)

Re: MicroSD Cards

I find following two files in my \Windows directory.

\Windows\sdhc.dll 18.98KB
\Windows\sdhc_hx.dll 17.73KB

Do these files not new?

I have just placed order of a TOSHIBA microSDHC 4GB Class4. I will get it by this weekend.

Re: MicroSD Cards

@Shigeru
Ok, I just looked at my directory, I couldn't find those files. I checked, I have the same rom version as for example thierryb: WWE_RC1070309.
Which one is yours ? Interesting to know.....

I use the kingston 2 GB microsd and I can even backup and restore directly from the storage card. It is always recognized.

Hey, this Eten X500 is actually a PPC Phone with MicroSD. The Eten Forum sdhc.cab only provide 2 files sdbus.dll & sdmemory.dll and claims it works. But not sure if other files needed beside the 2 files.

Some in the xda forum also mentioned it works on treo wm5 & wm6.

Looks good.

But the Trinity and Eten ROM has sdhc_sc2410.dll which is meant for Samsung MicroP while Flame has sdhc_hx.dll, not sure if it will works. If it still does not work on Flame, we have to search for Eten & Treo's ROM and extract and compare the SD files.

@thierryB

What is your investigation outcome?
