More Info:

Landscape does not work for me. I hope they will fix this and SIP problems in other beta versions. I like both Irıs, Skyfire but i think Opera is still the easiest and the most useable browser in windows mobile.

Re: Opera Mobile 9.7 beta 1

I had problems with SIP too and could not enter anything as keyboard would not open!  I will stick with Iris - this is quite fast and VERY reliable.

Not sure what SIP is, but this ver of Opera is a total failure on my Flame with wm5 original. The display wont even allow keyboard input or display the pop up menu. Complete waste of time.
Gone back to using 9.51 b2 which is ok.

There is new version of Opera 9.7 (fron HTC Leo ROM) here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpos … count=815/ Keyboard works!
But landscape mode doesn't work (I use Nikhil's Rom on my Flame). May be somebody can explain what does it mean - "if you find the screen doesn't rotate just add it to "gconfig" in start/utilities" Where can i find this start/utilities? Or may be it works only with G-sencor?

Re: Opera Mobile 9.7 beta 1

Hmm, the opera folks have Opera Mobile 10 Beta 2 out, I installed it on my WM5 Flame and notice some odd behaviour.   I also updated some of my SPB software (brainevolution, time, weather and wirelessmonitor). I freshly installed fring, hasa2, pdfscanner, motweets, and spb imageer, also updated skybook all at around the same time, so problems may be related to one of the above.  I also uninstalled the opera 9.7 beta prior to installing the 10 beta.

When it works, it works really nicely, I am quite impressed with the 10 beta compared to 8.60 and any of the 9.x beta's. It still doesn't seem to properly call up the default input method (vito zoomboard) and defaults to the standard ime, but otherwise very nice.

However, there seems to be conflicts since installing it.

1) Astraware Bejewelled 2 - when started up says there was an internal error and the program has to close, if I run it again, it comes up fine
2) Flexmail 4 - if it's running or has been run since last soft reset, Opera 10 barfs with

Cannot open 'Opera10-armv4i'. A critical component is either missing or cannot start because program memory is unavailable. Tap Start > Settings > System tab > memory, stop programs that did not automatically start and try again.

When this happens there is typically 40mb of program memory available when Flexmail is running, actually just check with the error on screen, there's 51mb free of program memory

Any suggestions on troubleshooting this further?  My goal would be to have Flexmail and Opera 10 running concurrently.

Re: Opera Mobile 9.7 beta 1

Was going to post a bug report to the opera devs, but further testing indicates this is likely a problem with several spb today plugins :-(  This is a looonnng post

tested on 2 windows mobile 5 devices, both touchscreen
Dell Axim X51v, and an O2 XDA Flame

Prior to the 10 beta 2 install, both devices were running older revisions of Flexmail 4, both devices also had opera mobile 8.65 installed and working successfully in conjunction with flexmail.  Both devices have been upgraded to the latest build of flexmail (4.11 build 3581), on the O2 device this was done after the installation of 10 beta, while on the dell device it was done before.

On the O2 device I previously also had 9.7 beta installed, but not sure which revision and don't remember if I uninstalled it before installing 10beta2, I think I did, but I can't confirm it.

Opera 10beta2 is installed in program memory on both devices.

1. soft reboot device, run flexmail, then with flexmail either opened or closed, attempt to start opera mobile 10 beta 2, following error pops up

Cannot open 'Opera10-armv4i'. A critical component is either missing or cannot start because program memory is unavailable. Tap Start > Settings > System tab > memory, stop programs that did not automatically start and try again.

On the O2 Flame, when this happens there is typically 40mb of program memory available when Flexmail is running, actually just check with the error on screen, there's 51mb free of program memory.

2. soft reset device, run opera 10 beta 2, it runs and works fine, but with it open or closed, run flexmail and I just get an hour glass and flexmail never opens

If the o2 device goes to sleep in either case 1 or 2, it will not wake up and requires a softreset

3. After just testing this on the Dell Axim, it works fine either way, regardless of which application is started first, both can run concurrently.

Of note the O2 device is running several spb applications with today plugins which have been known to cause issues with other applications.

Next tested on the O2 device by disabling all today plugins except for "owner", results = works fine for both flexmail and opera 10beta2, I next stared slowly adding in the today plugins, 3 at a time until the problem reoccured, then removed 1 at a time until problem came back,

after adding in the first couple, specifically

Sun'n'Moon
SPB Diary

starting flexmail (opens fine), then starting opera, I get

"'Opera10-armv4i' is not a valid Pocket PC application."

I click okay and and try to run opera again and notice flexmail has gone away, and now I just have an hourglass on screen and no response to screen taps, however mapped hardware button for acbtaskman works, but it doesn't display anything running :-(

I soft reset, disable spb diary and try again, flexmail and opera work fine

re-enable spb weather = works fine
re-enable all my other plugins EXCEPT spb diary, specifically

spb phone suite, flexmail, spb wireless monitor, rescoe today

result = flexmail doesn't start (just hourglass), but opera does

softreset

run flexmail, works fine, run opera, same error about critical component missing, close flexmail, start opera and it works fine, close opera, try to start flexmail, it works fine, try to start opera at the same time, get same critical component missing error

disable spb phonesuite and flexmail plugins

flexmail starts fine as does opera at the same time

re-enable flexmail plugin, flexmail just gives hourglass, opera works fine

softreset

start flexmail = ok, start opera = "'Opera10-armv4i' is not a valid Pocket PC application."

then running flexmail just gives the hourglass, run opera and nothing happens

softreset

stop flexmail plugin, start flexmail = ok, start opera = critical component missing error, flexmail disappears as does the icon for gpsgate in the system tray (that's been happening before, it's just now that I figure out which icon that was).

trying to run gpsgate now, just gives the hourglass

softreset, while it's rebooting, I check the dell axim device and it has NO spb software installed on it which is probably why everything works fine on it.

I can do without most of the spb today plugins, but I rely on the spb diary plugin to keep track of my schedule <sigh>

Spb makes great software that seems to conflict with a lot of stuff :-(
