External battery charger

I purchased also on ebay an battery charger, because it is not cool to charge it on the pda.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? … 0147322849

Unfortunately I have not seen that this device exists also with an European plug.

I purchased it after the advices of a member of xda-devs. If it is also a member of XFU, please tell me how to use it because no notice was in the box!

Re: External battery charger

I don't believe whomever claimed it was bad to charge on a PDA.

Li-Ion batteries have their own internal circuits to prevent overcharging, so a special outside charger is not required, unlike for NiMH or NiCd.

The heat generated by charging is not enough to worry about charging inside the PDA either.

As long as your charger/adapter is regulated and supplies enough current (1.5 A in the case of the Flame), you should be fine.

The Energizer ER-AC1 is a good adapter with worldwide plugs built-in. With another small USB adapter it can charge the Flame.

Re: External battery charger

It is not bad to charge in pda. But when I use the first battery in my pda, I can not charge the other battery in the pda.

So I need an external charger. But no problem to charge it in the pda, I will do it in few minutes!

Re: External battery charger

ok. great news from this charger.
It works. Fine, we already hope that.
But better, it permits to the standard battery to go further. I reach 4.24 V, instead of 4.19 charging in the Flame.
But it takes much more time. Charging is very slow.
I will tell you more if it helps the battery to last longer. Stay tuned.

Re: External battery charger

@ thierryb
Whats the name of the charger? At the ebay link the picture doesn'show the battery slot.
I'm interested to buy one with an european plug.
Waiting for your experience!

Re: External battery charger

Ok it works. It helps you to charge  your battery until 4.24 V. It takes a night (very slow). I am not sure, but my battery seems to drain more rapidly. I have to continue to verify it.

Re: External battery charger

Hi
Here in Australia seems to have limited suppliers of various accessories.
I just got my phone so the cradle etc I got from http://Techoni.com.au
They can be a bit ditsy on the phone but are next door to where I used to have an office in sydney and are reliable.

Re: External battery charger

Hi thierryb !

I'm the new french XDAFlameuser and i would to know if this charger is a good expérience for you. Your link is disable. Do you have an other link to see the photo ? I find a charger on eBay but i don't know if is the good one. It's seem very BIG !ch

In French for thierryb :
(Salut Thierryb ! Merci !)

Re: External battery charger

Ok, but if it's slow, is a good sign because is better (for battery, lifetime and for autonomy) to charge slowly !

I have ever had a similar battery charger for my Qtek S200, it was very very slow but autonomy was increased a lot !

Why did you say that is not easy to use ?

Re: External battery charger

Because it is quite complex to adjust the two pins that will charge your baterry, and you have to do it without seeing anything.
You will find a link to buy it in France here :

I bought this one today and paid by paypal. as soon as i get it, will tell you about it.

the one thing what i am not sure about is the plug; USA or EU?? will see

This one is the best (theoretically) because it can charge your external battery using AC/USB. some use only AC,  so this give ypou the chance to use your notebook in charging the battery

Re: External battery charger

I bought this issue some weeks ago thinking as you that it was a good idea. And it is, the problem is that the quality of the electronic components and its assembly is quite poor. Mine stopped working only some few days after the first test!. Nevertheless, I opened it and connected directly another  5 V DC charger  to its internal connections and it works...I have always a battery in charge.

Regarding the plug: It's American (two flat connector). Fortunately ,I had an adapter.
