My camera has been working fine up until about 4 weeks ago. No problems.
Now what happens is that the Camera program will start up, will rotate the screen to landscape mode, and will even display the camera screen icons on a black screen for a split second, but then the program closes immediately and returns to portrait mode.
I originally thought it was just a software issue or an OS issue, however severl soft resets didn't work.
I was hoping upgrading to WM6.1 (EFN MK4 X) would resolve the issue, but no change.
I can run other programs in landscape mode with no issues.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Is this a hardware issue? I really hope not, don't know how long I can last w/o my PDA/phone if I have to ship it off for repairs.. (assuming they still do repairs in Australia...).

Did you try a had reset, and test just after?
Do not forget to do a backup before the had reset. and a restore AFTER the test.

I experience exactly what you have experience with your flame camera. I brought my flame for repair last Oct to the store i bought and send to Taiwan and until now they have not yet repaired. and told me that Taiwan told them that the 02 already close in Taiwan. so they will try to find ways to repair that. I was eager to have my flame back ...
Any information on 02 offices. I resided in Hong Kong right now and they also said that 02 here already close so they need to send it to Taiwan and now they have just inform that Taiwan 02 have been close too.
Is it true that these offices are already close?

Chris

@thierryb
I effectively had to do a hard reset by putting the new ROM on the phone, surely this would have the same effect?
Offline
yes, when you instal a new rom, you do automatically a had reset
So that means that your issue is software related. Try to find the software who causes your issue.

Hi Gamm.
I'm also having that problem with camera, exactly the same as you described it.
Some of us are actually having that kind of issue, but have already given up cos we find no fix.
It happened right after I upgraded to EFN's ROM.
But I don't really think it's caused by his ROM cos I've upgraded, downgraded, installed original ROM, but same problem.
I'm not hoping it can be fixed ![]()
I still believe it's software, not hardware.

It was happening on mine before I upgraded, I was hoping the upgrade in OS would resolve it.
Perhaps it was a batch that went through.

i tink that's not a big problem
only the connector is not hardup
may it be?

My Flame was running WM5, till a few weeks ago ![]()
My camera had the same issue, wouldn't start. The cam program would start, the on-screen buttons would be offset, and it would cease to work. It would go back to portrait, and Today.
So i had given up fixing it, till a few hours before I flashed WM6.1.
I hard resetted the Flame, while giving it a constant, not-too-hard, not-too-soft shake till it gets to the Welcome Screen. I installed everything(O2 cabs) and I fired up the Cam after a soft-reset. Voila! It works. The cam worked!!
I was so happy I jerked the phone at my friend, who was then helping me transfer the img file to my microSD. Suddenly, the screen went blank, and it went to Today. I thought I pressed the End button, but when I tested the cam app again, the issue happened again. I then decided to flash WM6.1 and waited to see what happens.
It flashed, I watched it finish, and when the O2 screen came, I did the shaking procedure again. Tap the screens, set up bla bla, soft-reset, and VOILA! IT WORKS!!
Fortunately, now, even if I bump my Flame, the cam would work. Miracle? Maybe. Coincidence? Don't know. Give it a try? You people should! ![]()

Hi everybody,
I've got this camera-shot-off-immediatly-after-start-issue a few days ago.
My Flame runs Cotulla's WM6.1_WWE003 for several months and I never had any problems with the camera application.
Suddenly - the camera application doesn't work any longer.
Whithout flashing any OS or installing any application...
Of course - I tried a hard reset - thinking, this will solve the problem - but it didn't.
So I found this thread and read from -cyNix- that I have to shake my Flame during hard reset process to get my camera working again ? - strange...
Well - my Flame is already fully customized after the hard reset I made. So I am not very happy to do one hard reset again - shaking - and hoping, that the camera is on duty again.
Is there any other solution or idea to get my camera back on duty ?
Otherwise I will do a "shake-before-use" procedure with my Flame - although I new this until now for orangejuice only ![]()
All hints are welcome...
So long

I've tried all these suggestions to get my camera back up & running, but it didn't work for me.
I talked to a friend who got same problem of not receiving SMS & camera not working.
Issue resolved after replacing the board of the Flame, which is as good as buying a new phone.

Camera still not working... ![]()
Sometimes, if I press the device near the cameralens, the camera doesn't close immediatly after starting, but shows a part of O2 bootscreen. I can change the settings of the camera but I can't take any pictures and I can't get back to today screen.
So I flashed WWE_004_T7 but this also didn't help. Still no camera.
So I think, it's a hardware problem...
no more pictures...
no more MMS...
no more videos...
I am so sad...

i dont have such problem for about 2 years of using Flame. During this period my device was dropped only 2 times. Just try to remember were there any physical damages to your devices during lifetime?
I read that Flame quite hard responds to dropping...
If someone interested - i can share original WM5 based rom:
RIL Version 08.74
extRom WWE_RM 070622
Maybe it can solve the problem...

Hi everybody,
I have solved this issue for my device:
Because of another problem (you can read here) I had disambled my device. I examined my camera and it's connector ribbon and the connector itself. I found out, that the connector itself wasn't propper connected to the socket on the motherboard. It only took a little pressure on the connector and with a little "klack" it snapped in it's socket...
This is the camera connector indicated by a red rectangle. Below this black square there is the socket. So - if you got the "Camera-shut-off-immediatly-after-start"-Issue check out, if your camera connector is still well connected to its socket. ![]()
Then I've completly assembled my device and turned it on... After booting the first thing I did was checking the camera. Believe it or not: The camera is on duty again. Wow !!!
- I've got my baby back !! - ![]()

i got the same problem, camera will turn on then off after a second, opened my flame, even cleaned up the terminals, but to no avail
i checked 4 resistors beside the camera pin on the camera module itself, there are 4, 3 has good conductivity but one has none, so i assume that the other resistor is fried or something, i tried to Short it, but the flame wont turn on when its shorted, i removed the jumper on that resistor and my flame turns on again, but still, no camera, i guess i have to change that resistor, but i dont know its specifications, is there a separate camera module that can be bought?
